Spazoid's 100th Post!

Well, this blog has made it to it's 100th post, and I have yet to lose interest. The frequency of posting has gotten less, but I'd like to think the quality is getting better - expertise comes with practice for most things, and that includes writing.

Not only that, but last week I made $1.01 in ad revenue! Do you know what that means? I actually get a little bit of traffic! It's made me think about my own domain name, and a more powerful blog program, like wordpress or similar.

Last week I signed myself up for Google analytics, and in honour of my 100th post, I think I'll share with you some of the funnier and more disgusting search terms that landed hits on my site.

For those that are not familiar with what I'm talking about, it's pages of mine that have come up in a google search after a certain phrase is typed in. Google links specific words and phrases with those mentioned in a page. It's some seriously funny stuff.

Do any of you remember my post on Dirty Fag Suckers? Here are some of the search terms that linked to it:
Fag Sucking
Addicted to Fags
Fags in Space
How to tell if someone is a fag

Obviously, there are some dirty and perverted people out there, and one bigot. I'm just wondering who wanted to know if there are fags in space? There's not a whole lot of astronauts out there, so you might just be able to find him!

My Boobarella post had some interesting results. I imagine that every one of them is a man. Or Tequila Mockingbird.
Boob Deficiencies Picture
Perfect Women's Boobs
Pointy and Puffy Nipples
Wrinkly Old Woman's Boob's Pics

I'm sure all of my regular readers know that I find poo humour funny. It should come as no surprise that my Poo Coffee post got a hit by some disgusting pervert searching for Japanese Poo Burger!

Some other interesting searches that got hits to Spazoid's Space:
Perverted Video(s)
Penis Ice Cream
Boners
Contact Emails of Shit and Condom Factories
Douchebag Tanning
Farting Privates
Fleas around dogs bum
Lindsay Lohan's Beaver
Stallion Screw*Cow (this one is particularly disturbing)
Sucking off college guys blogger (WTF?!??!?!?!??!???!)
Support group for women with kankles
There are floaters in my bowel movements

And several others that even make ME blush!

What I'm trying to say, is that as disgusting and over the top as I think I am, there are some truly disgusting people out there, visiting my blog.

Thank you to all my readers for putting up with my shit! And many more returns.

-Spazoid

P.S. - If any of you want to add me to your blogroll or mention me in any way, I will be eternally grateful and do whatever you want me to do for you! Except that.

Tomato, Tomahto google party!

Still Single over at Tomato, Tomahto tagged me with some sort of fun tag. Basically, like any other tag, it's a link whore fest to spread around more google rank to the next person.

Theres nothing wrong with link whoring, but I hate the idea of "forcing" people to do it by tagging them. Worse still, this one is just atrocious. You have to copy a list of 26 links that correspond with the letters of the alphabet, and replace the one that your blog starts with.

Total and complete linking whore fest, and the worst part is that I CANNOT DO ANYTHING FUNNY OR ENTERTAINING WITH IT.

Screw that jive.

Instead, I'll link whore Still Singles site, and her site alone. With a google party. Basically, the idea being is that you mention the blog as much as you can, in this case still single, with imbedded links to the text, and also include google.

Hopefully, still singles site will come up in more searches. The more types of different search strings I can mention her blog in, the more chance it'll be found and therefore still single will get more traffic.

And I don't have to participate in some stupid tagging link whore fest to help people I don't even know.

To that end, I did a search on google trends and will now attach still single to some of the most popular (and funniest) search keywords.

Florida primary results still single
Earjacking still single
Dangerous cult still single
Miley Cyrus underwear still single
cheeseburger in a can still single
ramen noodles recipes still single
brawl news still single
don't drop the soap still single
Paris Hilton shoes still single
sex workers art show still single
soy bomb still single
Dan Quayle still single
Fat Tuesday still single
Hoboken fire still single

Still Single, I hope that gets you a flood of new traffic. Please, by all means, send them my way too. Also, no more tags. If you feel the need to tag me, please, have a google party instead, ya?

Advertising on your blog, Part 2

I'm sure you all remember my post on advertising on your blogs. Well, even if you don't, I'm going to talk about it again, only this time it's about this company, pay per post.

Initially these guys rejected my blog. I was a bit miffed, but it stated clearly in their terms and conditions that your blog must be at least 3 months old. I can understand that. Many blogs are fly by night operations anyways. Hey I know! I'll start a blog! Eight posts and three months later and the blog is abandoned, forgotten about, collecting cyber dust in cyber space. How does that benefit the advertiser, unless they LIKE to spend hard earned money with zero return? I don't know anyone like that personally.

So, a few days after my three month anniversary, I reapplied. I wanted to see what these pay per post guys were all about. Tonight, weeks and weeks and weeks later, they finally approved me! Hurrah! I can use the service!

The basic gist of this thing is you take opportunities and blog about it. You do have to submit the posts for approval, for certain companies. And of course, you can't bid on any opportunity, only the ones open to you. Still, it can make for an interesting experiment.

I'm not up on plastering my blog with PPP posts, who would read it? I'm going to try one or two a week. Maybe make them weekend posts, since I don't usually post on weekends. Just for some extra spending money, you know?

I've set a goal for myself. See where this goes, and if in a few months time I'm not making enough to pay for one sheet of drywall a week, I'll keep doing it. But instead of keeping the money, I'll donate it to charity. They make it that easy to do as well. With a click you can have the money donated to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, or the Alzheimers Walk. It's that easy.

Posts start at $5.00 per post, and go up from there. This first one is worth $20.00. Not bad eh? Better posts are available to you the more you do this and the better the page rank you have. I saw one worth $300.00, but it's not available to me, with such a low google page rank. Bummer. Hey, if you want to add my link to your site, that would be cool! It benefits both of us! It'll increase my page rank, AND people will think you're so cool for showing them a blog like Spazoid's Space, they'll keep coming back to your site AND tell all of their friends!

You're right, I have no shame. But I digress, once again.

So there we have it, not a bad way to pimp your blog a bit, as long as you don't overdo it, in my opinion. You should go check it out, if you're interested in making a bit of extra cash for yourself, or to donate to someone else.

Advertising on your Blog

From viewing the various blogs on my day to day blog jaunts, I notice a common theme. Most of us do it as it just seems to make sense. We all try to earn money from our blogs.

It makes SENSE. Most of the people that write blogs are just ordinary, everyday people who are trying to keep families afloat and make ends meet. Normal people running normal lives paying normal bills and being raped by all sorts of nice government taxes. Especially if you're Canadian, like I am. For some reason they seem fit to take half my pay cheque with various devious plots. And really, god forbid if you break a bone or somehow lodge a '79 Buick bumper through your pelvis. You're in the emergency waiting room for weeks! But I digress.

Most of you, especially those of us who have blogspot accounts, run google ads. I would like to say one thing about google. WTF? What the HECK do you have to do to even get a few pennies? Do you have to have the entire WORLD visit your blog? Ok Mr. Blogger, you got 250 page impressions and 4 ad clicks today, so that'll be..... multiply by.... carry the one.... move the decimal place.... $0.0005 cents! Congratulations, sometime in the year 3,000 we'll mail you a cheque!

Not to be intimidated by the google giants jerk status (how are they different from any of the other giant corporations?) I'm plowing on through, keeping the ads on my site and striving to provide my readers with regular quality content and to ever grow a loyal audience, as you are.

But there MUST be other ways help pay the bills while you do what you like doing? I started my search. Today, I ran across this site, called Blogsvertise.

Blogsvertise has a unique way of approaching selling advertising to their clients. Once Blogsvertise approves your site, they email you their advertisers site link as an assignment. Unlike some of the other sites, you don't have to drool all over this thing. All you have to do is have the link at least three times in your post. You can write about the site, you can write the links into something you're already blogging about, you can totally RIP on the site, it's up to you. When Blogsvertise sends you an assignment, you have five days to complete it and submit it for review. They send you an assignment by email, you incorporate the links into your blog, submit it, and wait. The minimum payout to your paypal account is $4.00 (unless your under probation, but we won't talk about that!). All they are asking for is a minimum of three links, and a minimum number of words so that you have content and don't cheat the system. Both numbers are very fair to both themselves, the advertisers, and us bloggers.

So far, the ladies and gents at Blogsvertise seem like a decent sort indeed. You don't need to be a product whore, and they have a unique way of benefiting themselves, us bloggers, and those that feed us all, the advertisers.

I've signed up to Blogvertise, and am looking forward to trying it out. Maybe it won't suck hard like google does!
